Dog Legs & Feet: "Shakespeare's Backup Band"
Shakespeare's Palpable Hits is a collaborative effort involving two dozen musicians, many of whom are (or were) also Shakespearean actors. The project was conceived and led by Dog Legs & Feet, a four-piece band based in Austin, Texas. The band has recorded two other albums (which were not Shakespeare-related): "Bottom" in 1998, and "Last Night" in 1999.
Dog Legs & Feet formed in 1997, but the members had already been involved in writing music for Shakespeare plays, much of it though the University of Texas' Shakespeare at Winedale program. They arranged with the University in 2003 to create a "greatest hits" album that would benefit the Winedale program, and this developed into Shakespeare's Palpable Hits.
When they went into the studio to record Palpable Hits, the four core members of DLF - John Botti, Jeremy Edwards, Joseph Trent and Jon Watson - brought in several talented Austin musicians and Winedale performers to help flesh out the sound.
The musicians on Shakespeare's Palpable Hits are:
